Happily stainless steel cook ware requires little special care. Of course, this does not mean that you can ignore it. There are some things you need to do to keep your stainless steel in good shape. Fortunately , stainless steel is dishwasher-safe, but if you wash it by hand you must remember to dry it promptly to prevent water spots. Letting a pot boil over high heat for a long period of time will discolor stainless steel and storing the cookware stacked with other pots and pans may cause surface scratches. To polish stainless steel, sprinkle baking soda on the wet surface of a pan, and scrub the metal with a synthetic scouring pad. After rinsing and drying, the pan will be bright as new.

Stainless steel cookware is generally pretty hardy, and to keep it clean and shiny, regular washing and drying may be all that's required. Tougher cleaning problems do arise occasionally, however, and here are some pointers on how to handle them. All that you will need can be found in your kitchen itself – some white vinegar, a little baking powder, a scrub brush and dish detergent You could use warm, soapy water - or a gentle dishwashing cycle - for everyday cleaning, and dry your cookware thoroughly with a soft cloth. Use a mixture of 25 percent white vinegar in water to remove mineral deposits left by hard water. Remove burned-on food from a stainless steel pan by pouring boiling water into the pan. Let it set for 15 minutes. If the pan still won't come clean, let the water cool, then wash with warm soapy water and a scrub brush made of nylon. Remove rust with an oxalic acid cleaner Use a glass cleaner and a soft cloth to remove fingerprints. Polish stainless steel with a paste made of water and baking soda. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
